The town treasurer accounts for the town finances. They keep a running account of moneys, bonds, notes, and evidences of debt paid to them, and moneys paid out to various town departments. The treasurer may also invest town funds with the approval of the selectboard. The treasurer must file quarterly reports with the selectboard regarding all money the town has received, paid, and invested during that period. 24 V.S.A. § 1571.
Additionally, the treasurer provides funds to town officials who are authorized to request them. The treasurer also keeps a public records showing the amount of tax money voted for the support of various town services (schools, highways, general purposes, etc.) and apply these taxes to the appropriate accounts. The treasurer also collects current or delinquent taxes.

Property Tax bill Questions:
If you sold your property after April 1 – we are still required to send the owner of record a tax bill.
If you purchased after April 1 it will have the prior owners but you should receive a copy as well.
